Laborfair Unveils San Francisco Bay Area Wage Report
Real Time Report Demonstrates Significant Savings Available to
Bay Area Residents; Cost of Handymen Greater on the Peninsula Than
in San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Nov 13, 2007 -- Laborfair (www.Laborfair.com), the smart,
easy and right way to find quality help, today unveiled the San
Francisco Bay Area Wage Report. This real time report documents
average fees charged by individuals using Laborfair to find work
opportunities across a number of different occupations, from
housekeeping to creative services. The report illustrates the
significant savings Bay Area residents can realize by connecting
directly with service providers.
"These numbers clearly show that savvy consumers can save money
by contracting directly with a qualified and experienced service
provider," said Laborfair founder Jenna Raby. "At the same time,
the report gives us a unique window into what people in business
for themselves are earning as a living wage instead of what they
would earn as a minimum wage at a larger company or agency."
Laborfair directly connects service providers and people in
search of personal help in a way that's fair, easy, and financially
rewarding for everyone involved. The company's online labor marketplace
is simple to use, completely transparent, and features peer reviews.
Individuals in need of help can search provider profiles that are
grouped according to geographic location or type of work performed.
The service is free for consumers.
The Laborfair Wage Report documents average wages earned by
occupation and by location in the Bay Area. Average fees for some
of the most popular categories include:
-- Child Care: $19.24/hour
-- Housekeeper: $17.83/hour
-- Handyman: $25.75/hour
-- Adult Care: $17.00/hour
-- Gardener: $17.37/hour
-- Painter: $22.29/hour
The report also highlights some interesting variances around the
Bay Area in the costs of services by region. For example, the average
fee charged by a handyman on the Peninsula is $33.68 while San
Francisco is much less at $22.15.
Other key findings from the
Wage Report include:
-- The five occupations with the highest average hourly fees in the Bay

services, and automotive

with an average high of $18.88 per hour on the Peninsula and an average low

Laborfair Launches Online Labor Marketplace
to Make it Easy to Find Reliable, Trustworthy Personal Help
Marketplace Promises to Transform the Way People Connect for
Work, Matching People to Providers in a Way That Provides Peace of
Mind and Saves Time and Money
SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Oct 22, 2007 -- Laborfair (www.Laborfair.com), the smart,
easy and right way to find personal help, today launched its online
labor marketplace for the entire San Francisco Bay Area. Laborfair
connects people in need of personal help with quality service
providers -- ranging from a housekeeper to a personal chef -- in a
way that's simple, fair and financially rewarding.
Many Americans are increasingly losing more personal and family
time because of the rising pressures of modern day living. As a
result, there has been a growth in the number and variety of qualified
individuals available to perform personal support tasks -- from
walking the dog to painting the house to preparing daily meals. The
challenge is finding those individuals best able to perform those
tasks in a reliable and trustworthy way, and at a fair price.
"We know that people rely on the advice of friends when searching
for personal help, so we designed Laborfair to function similar to
word of mouth -- only better," said Jenna Raby, founder of Laborfair.
"Users can quickly search profiles of relevant, local service
providers by category that have been reviewed and rated by their
friends, neighbors and colleagues. And because they're hiring an
independent provider and because Laborfair is free, they are likely
to save a significant amount of money."
Now, residents of the Bay Area can choose from hundreds of
affordable independent personal service providers across 28 categories.
The most popular Laborfair categories are, in order:
-- Child Care
-- Cleaning
-- Handymen
-- Patient Care/Adult Care
Laborfair functions similar to an online job board with aspects
of a social networking site. Individuals in need of help can search
service provider profiles grouped according to geographic location,
type of work performed or a combination of both. Individuals can
also post a public job lead so that interested service providers
can respond to them. All service providers on Laborfair must have
at least one reference or review. The service is free for consumers.
Laborfair is:
-- Easy to use: Simple searches produce results within one click
-- Transparent: All providers include a profile with photos,
availability, fees and more
-- Peer-reviewed: Service provider profiles include reviews by past
customers
-- Responsive: Service providers are rated on responsiveness to ensure
timely replieso
"Laborfair will change the way Americans find and hire household
or personal services. We remove the mystery from the equation, help
deliver peace of mind, and allow everyone to benefit," continued
Raby.

Social Enterprise, LaborFair.com, Launches Labor Day 2006, and
Presents at the California Workforce Association’s Annual Conference
San Francisco, CA – September 8, 2006 – LaborFair, Inc. announces
the Labor Day launch of its website, LaborFair.com
(http://www.laborfair.com), a person to person online marketplace
for household labor that connects both job posters and service
providers directly to negotiate for a fair price through a fair
process. A testament to its early success, LaborFair was invited
to present at the 2006 California Workforce Association’s prestigious
annual conference on workforce innovation, “Meeting of the Minds
in Monterey: Pausing at the Speed of Light.”
As a social enterprise, LaborFair partners with non-profits,
government agencies, and worker centers to uphold and reinforce the
principles of fair trade and local living economies: livable wages,
cooperative workplaces, and public accountability. LaborFair
harnesses the Internet’s power and reach to address both social
inequalities and market inefficiencies.
Jenna Raby, Founder and Chief Labor Officer, and Ben Picard,
CEO, led two workshops titled, “LaborFair: A Fair Price & Fair
Process for Household Labor.” The workshops highlighted LaborFair’s
role, as a bridge to permanent employment for California’s workforce.
LaborFair was one of three private sector companies invited to the
CWA’s conference on innovation, indicating its positive current and
future impact on worker’s rights and the economy of California.
“Presenting at CWA’s annual “Meeting of the Minds” conference
on workforce innovations is a real honor for our young company. As
a social enterprise, LaborFair.com shares the important goal of
putting California’s job seekers into long-term employment at a
fair and living wage. LaborFair is a stepping stone in this process,”
Raby said.
Winner of the 2006 Duke University Fuqua School of Business
Start-Up Challenge, LaborFair.com operates as an online job posting
board for household services such as homecare, cleaning, cooking,
painting, landscaping, and childcare. Customers post jobs and
service providers respond directly, together negotiating a price
online for the service based on the living wage. A fair price for
a fair process, the parties complete the transaction by leaving
feedback for each other on the website. A history of positive
feedback on LaborFair.com can increase a service provider’s chances
of acquiring more work at higher pay and a customer’s ability to
attract the best workers.
LaborFair.com is seeking further investment for its angel
financing round. For additional information on LaborFair.com and
